An invitation is extended to all Old Cornwall Societies to attend the St. Ives Old Cornwall Society ‘Crying the Neck’ ceremony. This will be held at Trewey Farm in Zennor parish, by the kindness of the Mann family, on Wednesday 16th August, with the Ceremony in the Field to commence at 2.00 pm. After such, we shall return to Zennor Churchtown to the Village Hall for a Service and our traditional Harvest Croust. The price is £3 for Pasty, Hevva cake, Saffron cake, Tea, etc. Those from other Societies desiring to be present, could they please let us know of how many would like either a meat or a vegetable pasty; this would help us to cater for those attending. Telephone either 01736 798017 or 01736 799032. An early arrival would be appreciated to the field, so enabling to commence on time, as the Farmer has a large herd to attend to later for milking.
Attached is a map to show you where this particular field is on the road leading up to the downs above Zennor; this being a location of a full natural landscape and witness to farming back to the mists of time. All approaches to Zennor will be signed posted to the field.
We sincerely hope to see you with us to join in the ‘Crying of the Neck, attend the Service, enjoy the Croust and the Company of One and All.’
